Heading off on your first multi-day backpacking hike? You will want a large comfortable backpack which fits well and can hold everything from your tent and sleeping bag to your camping stove.
Berghaus have been designing great rucksacks in the UK since 1971. Founders Peter Lockey and Gordon Davison were experienced climbers and mountaineers who became frustrated with the lack of high-performance gear shops in the UK, so they opened their own.
“Inside, you will find a base compartment specifically for your bivvy bag, plus a pocket for your hands-free hydration system.”
Lockey and Davison soon saw a gap in the market for a brand new backpack that was both lightweight and comfortable and suited for hiking and exploring the mountains. So they designed the Berg 172 and Berg 272 models, followed by the Cyclops rucksack, arguably the world’s first backpack with an internal frame. 40 years later, Berghaus are still designing excellent backpacks just outside Newcastle in the UK.
The large 65 litre Trailhead backpack is a great bag for first-time backpackers taking on a multi-day hike. It has a Biofit back fit system, which allows you to adjust the length of your backpack while you are on the move with just one pull of a strap. It couldn’t be more simple. The curved hip belt is designed to fit snug against your hips for extra comfort.
