Jack Wolfskin Exolight Slope Jacket | Review

With the excellent Exolight Slope, you're effectively getting two jackets for the price of one

You wake up. You have a shower. Or maybe you don’t have a shower. That’s irrelevant. What matters is what’s on the other side of your curtains, or if you’re doing it properly, on the other side of the tent door. You open up to see, and whatever conditions you find yourself facing, you grab your gear and head out to the wild.

That’s the target market for the Jack Wolfskin Exolight jacket – the winter adventurer who lives and breathes snow, and who plans to spend every single day they can out on the mountain.

So what’s so special about the Exolight? The real strength of the jacket lies in the fact that effectively, you’re getting two jackets for one. Or at least the best of both worlds.

“The Exolight provides both the quality waterproofing of a hardshell and all the comfort of a softshell”

The Exolight provides both the quality waterproofing of a hardshell and all the comfort of a softshell, thanks to the Texapore Softshell Infinity Hyproof fabric used in its design. As a result the jacket is weatherproof to the max while maintaining plenty of breathability.

The Exolight is incredibly comfortable too – whether you’re wearing it on top of a down jacket in the freezing cold, on top of a fleece in more accessible conditions or even directly against your own skin, you can really feel the quality of the jacket. You won’t be getting any stick against your arm or any of that common wear irritation that tends to often come with cheaper materials.

Multi-directional stretch performance allows the coat to comfortably accommodate all of the options above, while also maintaining that all-important comfort no matter how you’re going to be moving through the environment – whether on skis, snowshoes or on anything else.

Effectively, this is a product purpose-built to resist whatever you’re doing and whatever the mountain can throw at you.

The little details that you would expect from a jacket in this price-range are all accommodated for as well: venting zips, a snow skirt and five decent pockets including one designed specifically to fit your GPS. It’s not cheap, but it is top of the range.

This is a jacket capable of making your outdoor adventures a whole lot more practical, a whole lot more comfortable, and of making you look good on the mountain in the process.
