Keen make incredibly comfortable shoes, boots and sandals, that much we know. The broad toe and soft cushioning have seen them quietly become some of the most popular footwear for walkers. This reputation is helped by the fact that it’s hard to overstate just how comfortable they are.
The leather Feldberg is one of the latest and most handsome boots from Keen, and lives up the standards you’d expect from the American brand in terms of comfort and cushioning. There are some subtle differences that make it even more suitable for winter walking. Popping them on, it is immediately apparent the toe box isn’t quite as wide as usual (it’s still pretty wide for those with feet like a frog) but it means there’s a more positive step when walking or along a bit of rocky scrambling than previous models.
This is coupled with extra molded protection around the toes as well as the heels. The support on the arch inside is excellent and it cradles the foot really well. Of course, the leather upper provides real protection against the elements, and like most Keen boots they have the proprietary waterproof breathable membrane KEEN.DRY that will keep out all showers, as well as making them warmer in winter rain and snow.
“If you’re looking for a durable, stylish and above all comfortable winter walking boot, then you could do a lot worse than a pair of Feldbergs.”
