Women want outdoor gear that is versatile. It’s all very well having the best boots for hiking muddy trails but chances are you’re not going to be doing that every day, so it’s nice to have a pair that you could also wear to work – boots that can tackle any terrain with ease, from rocky trails to concrete pavement.
Keen’s Terradora boots are precisely those kind of boots. Based in Portland, Oregon, founder Martin Keen spent many years designing shoes for brands like Saucony and Timberland before setting up his own footwear company. He wanted to make super comfortable shoes for outdoor enthusiasts. It took a lot of trial-and-error, casting moulds of many different foot shapes until Keen came up with the right match. Now they are known worldwide for making some of the most comfortable hiking boots.
The Terradora hiking boots come in a mid-length for extra ankle support, as well as a low version. The footbed is molded to fit your foot like a glove with a mid-sole designed to cater specifically for women’s feet.

There is plenty of cushioning inside, including arch support and an ankle panel that takes pressure off the Achilles tendon. You don’t need to worry about pain or blisters with these boots, they will feel soft from the first wear. And amongst our testers, those with wider feet commented on how accommodating these boots were – not always a given with women’s specific shoes.
The Terradora boots are made using the Keen Dry waterproof breathable membrane, allowing your feet breathe while simultaneously keeping them totally dry. So if you are walking on the beach or accidentally step in a puddle, your feet won’t get wet. The grippy high-traction sole will keep you on terra firma, no matter the terrain.
