Walking, Hiking & Trail Running

Lowa Aerox GTX Walking Boot | Review

Whether you're walking, hiking, or running, the Aerox GTX is going to perform

Germany knows how to produce a top all-rounder. Boris Becker’s backhand was more reliable than your gas bill arriving on time. Steffi Graf won 22 singles tennis Grand Slams. And the German football team are so frightening to play against that we once tried to go as every single one of their 2014 starting line up for Halloween.

Well, the country produces outdoor gear just as reliably as it does sporting talent. There’s a whole host of manufacturers from Germany that are right at the forefront of the outdoors market, and when it comes to shoes in particular, Lowa are one of the best around.

“Whether you’re going to be hiking or running on wet trails or rocks or over dusty, dry paths deep in the forest, the grip on these shoes will have you covered.”

Lowa was founded in a town called Jetzendorf just outside of Munich, Germany back in 1923. That’s nearly 100 years of manufacturing experience, and it shows in their output. The shoe and boot specialists are renowned for releasing high-quality, high-functioning, innovative outdoor gear and there are very few boxes that their new Lowa Aerox GTX, a light and flexible multi-purpose shoe, cannot tick. That’s why it made it into our 100.

The tech inside this kicker is impressive. A GTX Surround membrane offers an impressive in-shoe temperature regulation and full waterproofing. Openings in the midsole of the shoe allow this membrane to work and keep every drop of water out, while simultaneously wicking away any moisture or perspiration on the foot. This keeps your feet dry, comfortable and at a perfect temperature while walking – something particularly handy for any high tempo stuff.

The Aerox is suited to all types of conditions, whether you’re going to be hiking or running on wet trails or rocks, or over dusty, dry paths deep in the forest, the grip on these shoes will have you covered.

The quick-lace system is another add-on for Lowa hiking shoes that has been implemented recently. The laces have been added in such a way as to add convenience without creating any discomfort or pressure points, something we often find is an issue with quick-lacing systems.

This is perfect for anyone who wants a shoe that they can wear for both day-to-day use and for quick hiking trips. There’s even a mid-cut version of the Aerox GTX for added ankle support. A great option for the versatile outdoor enthusiast.
