Travis Pastrana is set to return to racing motocross for Red Bull Straight Rhythm on October 4.
Everyone’s favourite athlete has probably become better known for his madness with Nitro Circus and general badassery in recent years, but he’s now set to rev back to his roots after four years away from the sport.
“I’ve made a career out of being unprepared,” he said. “That’s why this is perfect. The scariest things are the ones you plan out. That stuff that gets you hurt! This is perfect because I’m winging it!”
Travis is a former 125cc Motocross and Supercross champion, but it’s been a long time since he competed on two wheels. In fact, his last race was the Moto X Speed & Style at X Games L.A. in 2010. Which he won.
The buzz around his return got big when he instagramed this 500cc bike made specifically for the Red Bull event, which gives riders freedom from the usual requirement for 250cc or 450cc bikes.

With the Red Bull Global Rallycross later this month, it’s going to be a busy few weeks for Travis, but one that, in his own words, he’s going to ‘salivate over’.
We’re sure we’re not the only ones stoked to see him back in action.
