Choose life. Choose a job. Choose a career. Choose a daily commute on a crowded bus. Choose a small office with a laptop that constantly breaks, and choose all the other every day annoyances that Irvine Welsh’s Renton picks out wonderfully during Trainspotting.
Of course, you don’t have to choose the nine-till-five and the rat race, though. And you certainly don’t have to choose heroin like the lads in Welsh’s novel. The reasons? There are no reasons. Who needs reasons when you’ve got mountain biking.
We should warn you, the video above will make you want to pack up your stuff, leave your house and your job behind you and escape into the wilderness on your bike. You’ll probably be in such a rush that you’ll even forget your GoPro – we shit you not.
And that’s good. Absolutely fine. Leave your GoPro behind on this occasion, because a lot of the time, the best moments in life come when you’re completely unplugged from the rest of the world and you’re out there with nature doing what you love.
This short edit comes from Clif Bar, and it shortens the path to adventure to three simple steps: call a friend, pack your gear – and that doesn’t include your mobile phone – and last but not least, get out of town.
It doesn’t just have to be mountain biking either, of course. This formula applies for near enough any sport, outdoor activity or adventure that you can possibly think of, and it makes you realise how simple all of it is.
