Danny Hart Wins Second World Championship Title in Dramatic Val di Sole Win

The British rider took his fourth consecutive race win along with the rainbow jersey...

Danny Hart has claimed his second World Championship title after a dramatic win in Val di Sole which saw Aaron Gwin crash out.

The result capped Danny’s fourth consecutive win and signalled the end of a season to remember for the English rider.

Hart came in 2.927 seconds ahead of fellow Brit and Mondraker teammate Laurie Greenland, with Florent Payet, also on a Mondraker bike, finishing in third.

Hart won his first rainbow jersey in a famous run way in Champery way back in 2011, conquering a mud-drenched course which most had been slipping off to take the win in style – unleashing a whip which would go down in history on the way and prompting Rob Warner to yell: “how can Danny Hart sit down with balls that big?!”

It’s been a frustrating five years for Danny since, unable to get a first World Cup win or follow up his World Champs win with more success, but all of that has changed this year.

Danny has finally refound his winning form, taking his first ever world cup win in Lenzerheide in Switzerland on 9 July before winning again in both Mont-Sainte-Anne and Vallnord ahead of the World Champs in Italy.

In the women’s event, Rachel Atherton took first again to complete the perfect season and take her fifth rainbow jersey.
