Must Watch: Glow-in-the-Dark Mountain Bike Segment Will Leave You Speechless

Neon lights, forest trails and crazy freeriding... This is essential viewing!

Around about this time last year we brought you news of Afterglow, a glow-in-the-dark ski movie that left all who watched it stunned, and spawned some unbelievable LED ski photos as well.

Now, just last month we brought you the trailer for Darklight, the glow-in-the-dark mountain bike movie that was picking up where Afterglow left off. We’re delighted to say that the full seven-minute feature is now here, and it is one of the most stunning mountain bike segments you will ever have the privilege of watching.

Sweetgrass Productions, Swedish creative house Ahlstrand and Wallgren and TV giants Philips were to thank for both Afterglow and Darklight, and we must say, we are incredibly impressed with this feature. What could have been just a gimmick in an otherwise mundane edit actually turned out to just highlight – literally – the amazing riding from Matty Miles, Matt Hunter and Graham Agassiz.

On the back of a week where the world is in a freeriding frenzy after Red Bull Rampage, Darklight shows that you don’t have to drop the biggest cliff in the valley to stun your audience. The cinematography in the feature is award-worthy to say the least, from the early jungle-like stages to the pure freeriding enormity it progresses to.

Sweetgrass Productions write: “A physically and mentally demanding production, this piece was shot during the midnight hours over three intense weeks. With a scrappy and determined crew of 27, thousands of pounds of camera and lighting gear was slogged, rigged, soldered, hung and broken down each night. Unlike anything ever seen before in the world of mountain biking, Darklight features arrestingly beautiful landscapes and world class riding.

“An evolution of its predecessors, Darklight continues to push the creative bounds of action sports cinema.”
