These Guys Went Winter Mountain Biking… Down A 1600m Bobsleigh Track

Downhill mountain biking just took a mental turn... Onto a whole new kind of terrain

There’s winter mountain biking, and then there’s winter mountain biking.

The former simply involves riding some trails in the cold, while the latter is written in italics, spoken with raised eyebrows, and riddled with intentions of doing something largely inadvisable.

Take Andreas Sieber and Julian Gerhardt, for example. At the start of the edit above, the downhill duo are nailing some sweet winter lines, cruising along the trails and just doing their thing.

Halfway through the video, though, they ditch their winter mountain biking for some serious winter mountain biking – or, to be a little more specific, they race their rigs down the bobsleigh track in Winterberg, Germany.

It’s pretty freakin’ badass.

If that isn’t cool runnings, we don’t know what is…

The edit itself is actually from a while back. March 2013 to be exact, when Radon first launched their featured Slide 29″er. We stumbled across the footage again today though and thought it’d only be right to bring it back to your attention.

So, sit back, relax, and watch the German riders fire down 1,600 metres of icy bobsleigh track at 60km/h. If that isn’t cool runnings, we don’t know what is.
