Most mountain bike enthusiasts will know who Martin Söderström is. For those who don’t; he’s Swedish, he’s one of the best freestyle riders in the world, and he’s had a tough old time with injuries in the past couple of years.
The troubles all started for Martin back at Crankworx two years ago. He was sitting in second place when he launched his second run – and the very last run of the day – at Red Bull Joyride 2013.

It was all going so well for the Swede until the very last jump, but just when it looked like he might have the title in the bag, he crashed out attempting a double-whip 360 on the final jump. And broke his leg in the process.
This two-part documentary from Red Bull charts the progress of Martin since then, following him through his recovery to his return and second place podium at FISE Montpelier, and then on to further agony when he injured himself again at City 8 in Quebec last year.
Martin will, of course, be back on the FMB tour this year, hoping to complete a healthy season for the first time since he finished second in the overall in 2012.
We’re sure we’re not alone in hoping that Martin makes a successful comeback this time around. With Soderstrom potentially in the mix alongside Brandon Semenuk, Brett Rheeder, Sam Pilgrim and the rest of the top riders, it could be one hell of a year!
