Mountain Biking

What The Hell Is A Mountain Scooter? It’ll Either Fill You With Excitement, Fear Or Rage…

What happens when one of our favourite action sports meets one of our least favourite?

What the hell is a mountain scooter? That was our immediate reaction – a mixture of fear, condescension and denial – when we first came across this edit.

We couldn’t help but imagine a poorly modified mini-scooter bringing shame to our favourite mountains. But, as much as it pains us to say it, the three-minute edit above is not horrifically bad. In fact, it’s actually nearly, almost, kind of cool.

That doesn’t mean that it comes anywhere near an actual mountain biking edit of course. And it does stick in your mind that as well as rider Audric Lacour hits some of the lines in this film, he could hit them even better if he had a set of pedals to work with.

That said though, it’s definitely the raddest scooter video we’ve ever seen. Which is kind of like saying that the original Final Destination is the best film in the Final Destination franchise. They’re all a bit shit, and even the best ones only sneak by on novelty value.

Of course, it goes without saying that this will strike fear into the heart of the mountain bike community as well. There’ll be riders waking up in cold sweats, having nightmares about their favourite trails becoming overrun with scooting rebels.

Well handled on some of these lines Aurdric, but get yourself back on a saddle and then show us what you’ve got. For the good of yourself and the health of all others!
