It’s always tragic when a member of the action sports community dies.

We were saddened to hear this morning that mountain bike legend Kelly McGarry passed away while mountain biking in Queenstown, New Zealand.

Dirt Mountain Bike reported that the Queenstown emergency services were called after a crash on the Ben Lomond Track, a remote area accessed only by helicopter.

McGarry was a legend in the world of mountain biking. The 33 year-old was known for hair-raising antics including stomping a backflip over a 72ft gap at Red Bull Rampage in 2013.

The footage of this huge feat became one of the 100 most searched for things on the internet in 2013.

He’s had countless viral videos including an epic mission to the Himalayas and this unbelievable run at the Taxco Urban Downhill race in Mexico.

Kelly will be sorely missed – not just in mountain biking but across the world. Our thoughts are with Kelly’s family and friends.
