So that’s the downhill mountain biking season over for another year – and what an end to one hell of a season it was at the world championships in Vallnord, Andorra last weekend.
While it was no surprise to see Rachel Atherton cap off another fantastic season with a world champs win, many expected American shredder Aaron Gwin to take the men’s gold after a season of dominance in the world cup.
That wasn’t the way it turned out though, with Gwin crashing as he came down the mountain, and Frenchman Loic Bruni putting in an other-worldy run to fend off Greg Minnaar, Josh “Ratboy” Bryceland and Mike Jones at the finish line.
