Extremities Falcon Gloves | Review

In a world filled with touch-screens, the Extremities Falcon is the perfect glove for 21st century adventures

You know how it is, you’re out in a remote corner of the wilderness when you get a phone call via your one bar of signal. It’s the middle of winter, and the sound of your Crazy Frog ringtone is the only thing to be heard for miles around. Reaching clumsily into your jacket pocket with your big cold weather gloves on, you retrieve the phone and start prodding hopelessly at the on-screen buttons. You realise then that you’re still wearing your gloves, and fumble desperately to get them off before the caller hangs up. But alas, it’s all for nothing. You’ve missed the call. You’ve failed.

Thick winter gloves, that can keep your hands warm, are obviously an essential item to have with you on outdoor adventures – especially in chillier months of the year, and in lower-temp destinations. However, in a world increasingly reliant on touchscreen technology just having any old glove with you can sometimes be impractical.

“Take stunning outdoor photos for your Instagram and answer life-changing phone calls, all without ever having to take your gloves off first…”

Sometimes, for example, when you need to answer an important phone call, use your GPS, or simply have to snap that beautiful sunset, you want to do so in the least faffy way possible. Enter stage left: the Extremities Falcon Glove with X Block technology.

The Falcon is a close fitting windproof glove that offers good hand dexterity, complete protection from harsh winds, and touchscreen compatibility. The X Block technology uses a membrane that manages to be both windproof and breathable. It blocks cold winds from the outside but allows internal water vapour, which occurs when your body heats up, to pass through and escape. It’s clever, it works; we like it.

Other aspects of the glove that are worth discussing include the neat neoprene cuff with adjustable closure. This features not only allows the wearer to optimise a snug fit, it also keeps draughts out. We’re also seriously digging the use of Amara, a tough synthetic suede known for its durability, on the glove’s palm and finger areas.

Take stunning outdoor photos for your Instagram and answer life-changing phone calls, all without ever having to take your gloves off first and suffer cold hands as a result. A forward thinking glove for forward thinking people, we can’t recommend the Extremities Falcon enough.
