Get Backcountry Savvy
Unless you are a die hard jibber and never leave the park, you will probably be wanting to venture into the world of fresh snow that lies just off the groomers. If you want to adventure, you need the knowledge to keep yourself and your friends safe.
Do an avalanche course. Read as much as you can. Learn the orientation of the faces on your local hill. Practice using your beacon, even if it’s a grassy field. You can get your mate to hide it and practice your search techniques.
This way if you find yourself in a serious situation, you will be ready and familiar with your kit.
