GoPro vs. Blowtorch: What Happens When You Try To Melt a GoPro?

This is probably the most hypnotic, one-sided obliteration of all time...

Brace yourselves GoPro lovers; this could make for a mentally scarring watch.

Action-sports camera masters GoPro are renowned for the seemingly unbreakable nature of their camera – when it’s in case/suit of armour that is.

But how does the GoPro stand up to a bit of a battering when it’s out of the case? And by ‘a bit of a battering’ we of course mean someone attempting to savagely burn the thing to dust at close range with a blowtorch.

A couple of years ago we brought you the footage of what happens when you hit a naked GoPro with a golf club, and while the thing eventually broke, it stood up a whole lot better than we thought.

We also know that in the case the GoPro can stand up to fire pretty well. They did take one of the cameras into a volcano for the launch of the GoPro HERO4 – something well worth a watch.

So under the fiery siege of a blowtorch could the camera remain triumphant? Could the GoPro channel the spirit of King Arthur and slay the dragon-like DIY tool?

Well… No. Absolutely not. Not even close. Like at all. The thing gets burned to shit. It ends up looking like the physical embodiment of your hopes and dreams when you went to high school.

That said, it manages to film some of its descent into oblivion before it goes.

In some ways this feels like blasphemy; having seen all the epic moments caught on GoPro and knowing how much one of the little action-sports extras cost. In other ways though, it’s deeply satisfying – and certainly hypnotic as hell. Have a look for yourself…
