Will Gadd is one seriously crazy ice climber. In fact, he recently told Mpora that he “gets called crazy pretty much every day.”
It’s no wonder either. The guy recently took on the Helmcken Falls, a 131m waterfall in British Columbia, Canada.
For a variety of reasons, nobody had ever taken on this feat before. The route is considered to be the toughest mixed route – consisting of both rock and ice – in the world. It’s -35c outside, there’s water splashing everywhere, and there’s a whole stack of icicles along the way that make for dangerous companions.
Nevertheless, on February 11, Will and his team reached the top of the falls after an eight hour climb, and made history in the process.
