So here’s a video of a stuntman who decided it’d be a good idea to see if he could skydive without a parachute, land on a trampoline, and walk away to tell the tale.
According to the chaps in the video, the jumper Travis was able to survive thanks to a “geomagnetic positioning system” that used “the magnetism of the earth” to guide him towards the tiny 3×5 gap he had to fit through to reach his bouncy savour.
On top of that, the team were using a “special reinforced trampoline” to absorb the force of the skydiver, which of course is a real thing.
Obviously the video is largely farcical – the ground team’s “HQ” appears to be a cleared out living room, Travis’ speech seems unaffected by the G-force, and the editing when it comes to the trampoline section is a little bit too convenient.
Oh, and the fact that the coverage of the event is being brought to us by ‘Sky Newz’ is a bit of a giveaway as well – we doubt that it’s BSkyB’s latest attempt to reach a younger audience anyway.
Once you’ve called bullshit though and got over your initial outrage, you’ve got to give these guys some credit for putting the effort into their video. Have a watch and let us know what you think!
