Here’s the Creepy Abandoned Farm Town That New Zealand Completely Forgot

We went for a look round one of New Zealand's rural ghost towns...

We took a road trip to New Zealand in March, which needless to say, was absolutely awesome.

It was during a drive between some sick mountain biking around Rotorua and the Timber Trail on the North Island and canyoning in Waitomo Caves a couple of hours away that we passed this abandoned little farm village. Naturally, we had to stop to take a look.

Our guide for the day didn’t know exactly why the village had been abandoned, but speculated that the owners had probably just retired, moved back to the city and been unable to sell.

Whatever the reason, it made for a hell of an interesting exploration. Doors to the dwellings were left open, posters were still in tact but the houses were in ruins. Cars had rusted over and the spot had clearly been used for a few presumably underage drinking sessions since it had been left. Have a look and see for yourself…
