Kristi first went to the doctor back in 2011 when she noticed a strange numbness in her little toe. Without a definite diagnosis the numbness slowly turned into a sharp pain down one side of her foot, gradually getting worse up till 2014.

While originally the doctors suspected that the pain was down to epithelial sarcoma, Loyall noticed a lump on the inside of her right foot  which didn’t fit that diagnosis.

After months of doctor’s appointments, scans and tests, she was finally diagnosed with cancer in 2015 and the doctors decided to amputate entirely, to ensure that the Cancer couldn’t spread.

Now the amputated limb is footloose and fancy free, frequently uploading photos of its travels across the US on Instagram.

While many of us could get dragged down by losing a limb, we should  look to be more like Kristi and learn to take the rough with the smooth, all while keeping a great sense of humour.
