Watch 600 Pounds Of Explosives Annihilate A Bridge In Stunning Slow Motion GoPro Footage

...a whole new take on burning one's bridges

Bridges are great. We couldn’t live without them. Not only do they provide us with safe passage from one side of a thing to the other side of that thing, they also provide the foundations for the majority of the idioms ever expressed in the English language.

Examples? A bridge too far; a bridge over troubled water; bridging the gap; burning one’s bridges; it’s water under the bridge; building bridges.

Sorry, we know you came to see a video of a bridge blowing up rather than a list of expressions involving the word ‘bridge’, but patience is a virtue. We’ll cross that bridge when we come to it.

Anyway, as well as being physically useful for getting across stuff and adding extensively to our vocabulary, bridges are also great for photographing and filming, particularly when they happen to be exploding at the time.

Now, we understand the argument that pretty much anything exploding makes for a good film, but our hypothesis here at Mpora is that bridges look particularly splendid when blown to pieces.

Why do you think so many films utilise the prospect so often? There’s something special about watching your way out a city and such an important word in so many of your beloved sentences being blown to bits by 600 pounds of explosives – and we have a video of exactly that for you to watch.

Here’s the old US-377/SH-99 Washita River Bridge being blown to shit, filmed exclusively on GoPro:
