British Free Runner Nye Newman has died following an accident on the Paris Metro. The BBC reports that the 17 year old, from Guilford, Surrey, died on the 1st January, amid claims that the incident occurred as a result of Train Surfing.

However, Luke Stones, a fellow Free Runner and friend of Nye rejected the claims, stating that Newman has not been train surfing at the time of death.

“So some of you might have heard, one of our team members Nye Newman passed away today in Paris after a train accident on the metro,” wrote Stones on his Facebook wall. “He wasn’t train surfing, as many of you may assume, many of you may think it’s a joke and we really wish it was, but it isn’t

The Foreign Office have issued a statement confirming “We are providing support to the family of a British national following their death in France.”
