There was chaos at the Tour of Flanders over the weekend after a road cycling mechanic became trapped under the front of an Etixx-Quickstep car while riders lay crashed at the side of the road.

The incident happened after the car was trying to squeeze past the collision which had taken place early on in the Tour stage.

In amongst all the mayhem, Ed Bekhuis, the Giant-Alpecin mechanic, was on his way to help out one of the riders on his team who had gone down.

Somehow, whoever was behind the wheel of the Etixx-Quickstep car appeared not to see Ed, who was walking away from the car, and then didn’t realise the precarious position he was in after causing him to fall over.
