There are two types of people who turn up for road cycling events; cycling enthusiasts, and those hoping to see a pile of people wearing lycra crash to the ground.
There are also people who randomly stumble upon the event of course, but they quickly fall into one of the two categories above, eliminating the need for a third category.
It’s a theory that sums up the human race quite accurately when you think about it, in the worst possible way of course – large crowds of people getting hyped and happy on an enthralling spectacle, and everyone who isn’t involved or doesn’t like it that much hoping to see it crash and burn for their own amusement. Oh humanity, what are you like?
