Motorcycles don’t often make the headlines when it comes to the Tour de France, but when they do, it’s almost always going to be for the wrong reasons.
Take stage 18 of the Grand Tour race yesterday for example, where footage has emerged of a photographer’s motorbike coming inches away from taking out Cannondale-Garmin rider Ryder Hesjedal before going on to nudge Astana’s Jakob Fuglsang minutes later, forcing him to crash.
The footage comes from Danish channel TV 2 Sport, and it really makes you wonder what on earth the dude with the two-wheeled engine was thinking. Fuglsang took a nasty cut to the arm in the bail out but was able to get back on the bike and catch up with the leading group, taking a commendable fifth place in the stage.
