Is This Globe-Trotting Skate Edit The Most Creative Ever Made?

This is what happens when skating meets Inception

In the world of skateboarding, the word “creative” gets misused almost as much as the world “legendary” does in football. If somebody releases a edit wearing a baseball cap backwards, people are queuing up to call it creative.

“What, you did a kick flip while wearing a beige t-shirt? That’s so creative!”. It’s an easy trap to fall into, it’s only really noticeable when something legitimately creative, different, and inventive comes along.

And that’s exactly what happened with this new Kilian Martin film. Not content with making yet another skate film in yet another suburban town, the Spanish skater let his imagination go, and conjured up this incredible short.

From snow, to the red rocks of the american mid west, then on to the subway, incredible open salt flats and some bizarre large green house thing, this is more like a dream sequence than a skate film.

It’s not just unusual locations on show here. Kilian drops some brain melting flatland tricks that wouldn’t look out of place in a Rodney Mullen edit – and in the interest of clarity, praise doesn’t’ get much higher than that.
