The World’s First Multi Story Skatepark Is Being Built, Right Here In The UK

This proposed three level skate and BMX park simply has to be built

When you hear the worlds ‘multi story’, you probably picture poorly lit, piss smelling car parks where kids that look like Blazing Squad spit unconvincing beats in their latests Sports Direct bounty. However, a new project is on the horizon that’s about to change all that.

A multi story skatepark is hopefully going to be built in Folkestone, on the South coast of the UK. The ambitions project, the first of its kind in the world, will feature three unique skatable floors. One will feature an international standard bowl, another will have a street feel, and the third will be flow park.

A large, industrial lift will link the three floors, and large ramps will also connect them all up, making it a completely immersive, ridable experience. But before the BMX riders of the world punch their screen in envious fury, the entire park will also be opened up to them and trials riders. For some reasons, inline skaters and scoot riders are also welcome, but lets gloss over that quickly.

The building is hoped to be part of the regeneration project in the area, and will act as a hub for anybody wanting to get a little creative and have a ride. But it’s not just people on wheels that will be able to use the space.

There will also be an 11 metre high climbing wall spanning the three floors, a boxing gym in the basement, and roof top cafe with views over the English Channel, all of which sounds rather civilised indeed.

Before you book your train ticket to the South Coast, we should point out that the project is still very much in the planning stage, with an application going to Shepway District Council following a public consultation, but it’s hoped that construction will begin later this year.

Let’s all keep our fingers crossed that things go well or the guys, and the UK gets this world leading facility.
