Livigno, Italy
Livigno enjoys a tax-free status which is good news for après lovers. While alcohol doesn’t seem necessarily cheaper, the bartenders are definitely generous with free pouring shot measures.
There’s an après ski umbrella bar at the bottom of pretty much every lift with people dancing on the decking to dodgy Euro pop.
Gulliver Pub has a giant selection of beers while Tea del Vidal claim to have invented the famous bombardino, a hot drink made from Advocaat and brandy, topped with whipped cream. A bit like 1970s classic the Snowball, except hot and more potent.
However, the night doesn’t really kick off until after dinner. There’s no problem locating bars in Livigno – there are 150 of them, more than any other ski resort in the world. We recommended starting at the Kuhstall bar in the centre of the village and following your nose from there.
