Mayrhofen and après go together like bacon and a hangover. This small Austrian village is world renowned for hosting some of the most mental après parties the world has ever seen.

The biggest event of the year is Snowbombing when hundreds of riders turn out onto Mayrhofen’s slopes for a week of riding and raving big-name music acts. Rudimental, Basement Jaxx and Fat Boy Slim are all lined up for next season.

When festival season isn’t underway, there are plenty of watering holes to keep you entertained. Love Europop? (who doesn’t?!) Head to the Pilzbar at the top of the Penkenbahn gondola. Once you’ve drunk your fair share of Stiegl, slide yourself across to the Ice Bar next door.

Later on, decamp to Scotland in the village centre for more table dancing, beer swigging and rowdiness with the local Austrians and Germans.
