There aren’t many downsides to living near a ski resort. You can go skiing or boarding any time you like and you can pretty much live on baguettes, gluhwein and anything else you can make out of cheese and garlic.
There is one thing that’s not so great about the bigger ski resorts though – the crowds. We’re talking giant queues for lifts in the morning, half hour waits to get served at the bar and shredders of every level barging their way around the slopes.
Now, one way to solve that problem is to simply go out to the slopes when it’s not peak times, or to go to a slightly smaller ski resort.
There are always going to be people that annoy you though, so to really solve that problem, you’d have to buy your own ski resort, but that’s just ridiculous, right?
Well, not if you happen to have a spare $900,000 kicking about, because Canadian ski resort Mont Farlagne is now up for sale for exactly that price.
The area, which is situated in New Brunswick, comes complete with 22 trails, two lifts and a T-bar, and despite originally being slapped on the market at a cool $2.3 million in January, the seller Gallant Enterprises have now reduced that price to $900k.
Maybe it’s haunted or something.
Now, while it remains very unlikely that you have that kind of money tucked under your mattress, we’ve got to say that this sounds like a pretty good deal for anyone who’s just won the lottery and is looking to get into the 24-hour shred-party-shred business.
After all, we recently brought you the story of this stunning mountain house in Aspen, which is being sold for a full $100 million despite the fact that it doesn’t even include your own personal shred-heaven.
Of course, it’d be cool to see someone take over the business who really cares about the slopes, who would get it back up and running and open it to the public. However, it would also be incredibly cool (if a little selfish) if some rich dude just bought the place as his new personal getaway.
Imagine instead of having a common little holiday home out in the Bahamas, your family and friends’ escape spot was your own personal ski resort, with kickers set out wherever the hell you want them and nobody to stop you from playing a giant game of hide and seek around the slopes.
We’re not sure what your dream spend would be if you won the lottery, but if our numbers come up in the next few months, we certainly know what we’re going to do…
