Why we chose the Faction Dictator 3.0: No fake news here – crud-busting performance in a 105 mm package.

Whilst the Faction Agent 2.0 is kind of like the wholesome, well behaved, girlfriend you’d be happy to bring home and show off to your parents, these, the Dictator 3.0 are more like well… that dictator you most certainly wouldn’t like to bring back to your parents.

As with all dictators, give the Dictator 3.0 an inch and they’ll take you for a ride. If you’re able to keep hot on your toes though, and drive these skis from the tips, then these are going to reward you with some extremely fast and stable turns.

Enough analogies about girlfriend and dictators – how does it ski? Well, expect it to be able to blast though pretty much any kind of chopped up pow given its construction which is nothing short of heavyweight.

“As with all dictators, give the Dictator 3.0 an inch and they’ll take you for a ride”

Not only is there a stencil of a dictator sitting directly underfoot, but the Dictator 3.0 provides you with two sheets of titanal that span the full length of the ski, giving the ski an extremely stout flex profile throughout. This use of metal will let the skis track through their full radii, no matter how mashed the snow becomes.

Coupling the hard man build is a subtle tip and tail rocker which gives as much surface area on the snow as possible, whilst also ensuring soft snow performance is upheld. The shape also follows suit, with a dual-cut radius promoting high speed turns whilst all that metal allows you to blast through anything that stands in your way; crud, moguls, or even the odd punter.

Saying that, whilst the two sheets of metal make it a fantastic downhill performer, it does add on a fair bit of weight to the skis – coming in at 1950 grams in the 178 cm length.

“All that metal allows you to blast through anything that stands in your way”

As you can see, this ski isn’t going to be suitable for the one-week-a-year holiday skier who does a couple of laps before calling it at the nearest bar. Instead, this ski is begging to be charged around resort in a whole mix of conditions, at pretty high speeds.

We’d recommend adding a downhill focused binding on, such as the Atomic Shift, or the Tyrollia Adrenalin for the full downhill charging experience on offer.

These tails got your back

Industry Insider

Anna Smoothy, Faction Marketing Manager

“The Dictator 3.0 is the one ski quiver for the freerider who chases the bigger lines but needs a ski that excels in all conditions.

“The Dictator 3.0 ski floats through fresh snow with ease and the dual span titanal eats up choppy snow like a boss.  The updated elliptical radius ensures that the ski doesn’t hook up at high speeds: you can lace tight turns, or open it up on big faces, dumping speed easily when you need to”

Expert’s Verdict

Sam Anthamatten, UIAGM Mountain Guide and Faction Athlete

“The Dictator 3.0 is my ski of choice for everyday shredding. It holds an edge at high speed, works well in tight spaces and stomps landings in a wide variety of terrain, from hard snow to deeper, fresh conditions. I especially love using it on steep couloir missions!”
