“Anne-Flore Marxer is ok. She called me just now…Poor Others” read a post by Catherine Marxer on Facebook this morning after some news outlets and twitter rumours were suggesting that her daughter, the pro snowboarder and former Freeride World Tour Champion, had died in a helicopter crash in Argentina this morning.

10 French nationals died in the tragic collision between two helicopters shortly after take off, including the Champion sailor Florence Arhaud, Olympic gold medallist swimmer Camille Muffat and Olympic boxer Alexis Vastine. They were in Argentina filming a Survivor-style reality TV show called “Dropped”, in which Anne-Flore Marxer was also starring. Hence the confusion.
Fortunately for Anne-Flore and the snowboard world she was in Haines, Alaska competing in the next stop of the Freeride World Tour, which starts this Friday.
The cyclist Jeannie Longo and footballer Sylvain Wiltord were also starring in the show but not on the helicopters which crashed. Our thoughts are with the friends and family of those who passed.
