Anon Endure Helmet Review

Burton, the biggest company in snowboarding, have been putting out goggles under the Anon brand name for years. A few seasons ago they decided that all their helmets and protection would have the same moniker too. So although the name might not be on the outer shell, this is manufactured to the kind of exacting standards you’d expect from any Burton product.

The exterior of this helmet is ABS plastic, which is combined with a high density foam liner that’s specifically designed to protect against the sorts of impacts that you might suffer in a skiing or snowboarding accident – and dissipate the force of any blow.

Inside that is a thin layer of fleece designed to add comfort and help wick sweat away from your head. Both this and the ear flaps are removable, in case you’d rather rock a beanie under your lid.

“The clasp is so simple it can be closed with one hand while wearing gloves.”

The whole thing is impressively lightweight – coming in at just a shade over 500g – but still feels solid enough to inspire confidence in your riding.

Our favourite feature here however is the clasp on the chin strap, which is the result of a collaboration between Anon and a company called Fidlock. It uses magnets and a simple clip to snap shut, and is so simple it can be closed with one hand while wearing gloves, even if they’re mittens. Our testers tried it with both, and it works brilliantly.

Stylistically the Endure helmet is pretty understated, especially in this matte gray colourway, but that’s a good thing as far as we’re concerned. No-one wants their head to stick out like a sore thumb on the slopes, do they?
