The Day Trader is an unusual snowboard, and not just because of its the slightly tapered shape, which makes it look a little different. It is in fact one of the few women’s specific backcountry snowboards on the market.

Most women’s boards are made as all-rounders, designed to handle a bit of off-piste perhaps, but also comfortable in the snow park. The Day Trader makes no such compromises. This is built with one kind of rider in mind – the sort that’s up before dawn on a powder day, and goes off in search of secret stashes instead of sticking to the piste map.

It’s got a relatively stiff flex, so it holds an edge beautifully while carving and feels stable at speed. This means it rides impressively well on hard packed snow and pistes (great if you’re the kind of rider who likes to mach it around the mountain) and if you’re negotiating any icy sections on your way into a line, you’ll appreciate how solid it feels underfoot.

Burton have combined the stiff flex with a tapered shape designed to help the nose float in powder. The brand’s patented ‘channel’ system means you can mount the bindings almost anywhere you like along the length and adjust them easily, useful if the snow is deeper than you expected and you need to set them back.

Other clever features include the ‘squeezebox’ wooden core which is milled thinner in particular areas to allow the board to flex more naturally under your feet. Their ‘infinite ride’ tech, which breaks in their boards before they leave the factory, means that the flex will feel the same over the course of the board’s lifetime.
