While in the northern hemisphere, we’re still basking in the summer sun (or, more accurately, grey skies and drizzle here in the UK), it’s winter down in Australia, meaning the 2014/15 snowboard season has started.
Mile High, the first major comp of the year, took place earlier this week at Perisher in Australia. The slopestyle event has grown over the years, and now attracts some of the biggest names in snowboarding.
In the mens event, Sebastien Toutant took the top spot, with Max Eberhardt in second, and Torstein Horgmo breaking up the Canadian dominance in third.
Jamie Anderson won the womens event with New Zealand native Christy Prior in second and Silvia Mittermueller from Germany in third.
Britain was well represented by teen Katie Ormerod who finished seventh, Aimiee Fuller who placed ninth, and Billy Morgan, who couldn’t repeat last year’s silver medal triumph, finishing down in 51st.
