What Pro Snowboarders Say Vs. What Pro Snowboarders Really Mean

A guide to reading between the lines...

Man, the course here is sketchy. It’s dangerous to ride.

 I fell.

You can’t blame the sketchy course. It’s the same for all of us.

I fell, but my sponsors built the course, so I want you to think I’m cool with it.

I’m over the whole contest thing now. I’m focusing on filming parts.

I can’t do triple corks, and I need 12 takes to land 7’s.

It’s so good to have Shaun White here. He really pushes me.

Shaun White is a better snowboarder than me.

Shaun didn’t deserve second place. There were a lot of riders landing better runs than him today.

Shaun White is a better snowboarder than me.

Not all of us had our own half pipe built exclusively for us.

Shaun White is a better snowboarder than me.

It’s so cool to see the young guys coming through and progressing the sport.

I’m worried I might be out of a job. Is 38 too old to learn triple corks?

There are so many legends here today. I grew up watching these guys.

Err, who’s this Thierry Hakkoman dude?

I’m not here to win medals, man. I’m just here to hang out with my bro’s and ride.

6th place again. Why always 6th place? I’m going to get dropped.

Props to my sponsors man, they make all this happen.

I’m picking up so many pay cheques, I can’t remember every company’s name.

Riding with my buddies back home is still the best, but I don’t get that much chance to any more.

I’m rich now. Really fucking rich.

I’m taking a break for a season to hang with my buddies, and reconnect with snowboarding at a pure level.

I’ve been dropped.

It’s so rad, just hanging out with Mark, Nico, Terje, Ståle…

OH MY GOD, OH MY GOD, OH MY GOD! LOOK WHO’S HERE!

Fuck the Olympics.

I haven’t qualified for the Olympics.

Snowboarding gives me the freedom to do what I want. To express myself.

I can never be photographed without a can of my sponsor’s energy drink in my hand.

I’m focusing on playing with my band, rather than snowboarding for a few months.

Ayumu Hirano is younger than me, he’s better than me, and scares the shit out of me.

The dome and dry-slope scene in the UK is rad!

Where are your mountains?

It’s super cool seeing so many women coming through, and riding harder than a lot of the guys!

Silje Norendal is bang tidy.

Snowboarding’s all about riding power with your friends.

Snowboarding’s all about winning contests and picking up pay cheques.

I don’t think anybody will be The Next Me. I want the kids coming through to be The First Them.

Are you kidding? There’ll never be another me! I’ve left a fucking legacy!

It’s so rad to be here in Djibouti.

My sponsors think Djibouti is a growth market.

I just snowboard for fun, dude.

I can only have 35 grams of carbs a day for 3 months so I’m in peak shape for some rail jam in Dildo.
