On slope etiquette went right out this window in this gnarly looking video. Traveling at full speed, this snowboarder clatters the skier, sending him flying up in the air in scenes reminiscent of Roy Keane and Alf-Inge Haaland getting reacquainted.
But who’s to blame? The skier does lazily stop in the middle of the slope, not off to one side as he should. However, the onus should be on the snowboarder, higher up the hill so with greater vision, to avoid him. Who do you think is in the right?
“Who do you blame?”
Initially, we thought the skier wast to blame. But then we thought it was the boarder being a dick. It’s a tough call. Another factor to consider is the possibility that the video’s a set up.
The faux-beginer skiing, the otherwise empty slope, and the fact that both parties seem to be expecting the collision all raise our suspicion.
After all, if you were either the skier or the snowboarder, wouldn’t your first reaction be to get up and have a jolly good chat with the other dude?
What we know for certain is this, being a dick on the hill isn’t cool. Skiing and snowboarding are different, but that’s no reason to act like gaping arseholes to each other. Down with this sort of thing.
