Bethany Hamilton Lost Her Arm To A Shark Aged 13. Now She’s Surfing Jaws

It's one of the world's most dangerous waves, proving Bethany is the ultimate badass

Bethany Hamilton is one of the biggest badass in actions sports.

After losing her right arm to a tiger shark while surfing aged 13, she’s continued to surf competitively.

It only took her a mere four weeks to get back on to the board, and just over a year later she was winning her first national title

Last year she gave birth to her first child, a boy called Tobias. Now, just six months later, she is being towed into this monster of a wave at Jaws in Hawaii.

Jaws (or Pe’ahi) is not a wave to be messed with. When it’s working, the waves can be up to 60ft high.

Powerful and seriously dangerous, Jaws has claimed the life of many an experienced surfer.

Although that didn’t stop a teenager from Devon paddling out in a 50ft wave last month.

We’ve got the utmost respect for Bethany. Jaws is tough at the best of times – let alone when you’re riding with one arm. Keep up the good work, Bethany!
