Finisterre was started in a bedroom above a surf shop. Founder Tom Kay began making fleeces for British surfers. Growing rapidly from those humble beginnings, Finisterre has sparked a coldwater surf movement across the world. Instead of creating Californian-style shorts and flip flops, Finisterre make waterproof jackets and warm socks suited to surfers who ride waves in the cold, grey waters of Northern Europe.
The Nimbus jacket is one of their most popular products. It is the warmest insulated jacket in the Finisterre range. Beneath the water-resistant, windproof shell, Finisterre use an synthetic PrimaLoft recycled insulation fill which offers more warmth with less bulk than ever before. When it gets wet, synthetic fill retains 75 per cent of its warmth compared to only 15 per cent warmth retained by down fill.
“The overwhelming popularity of Finisterre clothing lies in its versatility. You can channel that surfer look even when you are miles away from the sea.”
This jacket is lightweight and easily packs down into the inside zip pocket for storage. The slim fit cut means it is perfect for light layering, whether you have a thermal and jumper underneath or a heavy outerlayer on top. The Nimbus comes in matt black or racing green if you want to add a little more colour to your gear bag.
