British Surfer Andrew Cotton Bailed on a 60-Foot Monster. But It Was the Next Wave That Nearly Ripped His Arm Off…

The 'beating of a lifetime' makes for uncomfortable viewing...

British big wave surfer Andrew Cotton was out in the water at the legendary Portuguese spot Nazare earlier this week when he took what looks like the battering of a lifetime.

Having bailed on one wave, Cotton then got hit by a second 60 foot monster then three more before one of the jetski rescuers managed to make it to him.

“I got absolutely beaten up” said the North Devon native, with typical understatement. In fact, he later admitted that he thought his arm had been snapped like a twig under the pressure. Thankfully it was only hyper-extended, but he decided not to go back in the water. Probably wise.

“He thought his arm had been snapped like a twig under the pressure.”

The scary video footage of the slam was dramatic enough to et picked up by the Daily Mail. Interestingly, especially given the treatment they’ve given Cotton in the past (Cotton described them as “ridiculous” when we interviewed him a few months back) the paper commended him as “fearless”.

Unfortunately, while the editors may have changed their tune, the below the UKIP-voting neanderthal commenters below the line haven’t.

Oh dear Daily Mail, oh dear.
