Samsung Galaxy ASP Women’s World Tour Preview Guide

A guide to all 11 events in the women's ASP World Tour calendar

The RoxyPro has run parallel to the men’s tour and kicked off the women’s for the last eight years on the WCT. As with the men, the dredging sand points of Queensland have been a place to lay down a marker as to who will be in contention for the world title.

The contest site is split between two venues in the town of Coolangatta, Snapper Rocks is most consistent of the two picking up almost all of the swell. A dredging take off with the potential for deep tubes races off into long right handers with further tube and air sections.

If the swell gets too big for Snapper then the event moves down the point to the legendary wave at Kirra. Kirra is a tube riders wave and winning here is all about how long you can stay in the pit.

Who to watch?

Tyler Wright is the reigning champion out here and she rips in all conditions, a future world champ surely, and she will be one to watch to defend that crown.

But it’s hard to look past current world champ Carissa Moore and multiple champion Steph Gilmore, they both rip in sucky right handers and will be wanting to get out of the blocks fast. Also keep an eye out for Sally Fitzgibbons, she has come close to a world title for the last couple of years and will be hungry to get off to a good start.
