The classic Easter swell was still hanging around on Tuesday morning at the famous right hander. Groomed by a fresh offshore breeze Bells was looking pretty fun, and the women were sent out to narrow the field down to four.

In round four Malia Manuel got a walk over as Courtney Conlogue had to pull out through injury. The second heat was a big one, reigning champ Carissa Moore had been pushed into her second sudden death heat, and now was up against local ripper Niki Van Dijk.

It was a tight heat but Carissa powered through with the score of the round, it finally looked like she had found a little bit of world title winning form. In the other two heats Lakey Peterson and Dimity Stoyle both progressed pretty comfortably.

The quarter finals were pretty stacked as they always are in the women’s event. The heat of the round was Malia Manuel, who was having one of her best contests, going up again Sally Fitzgibbons, it was tight throughout with the lead changing hands but in the end Sally’s flair and experience took the win.

In heat two Carissa Moore exacted revenge and on Coco Ho who had beaten her in round four, although Carissa had had to get to this point the hard way, she was looking solid, and once again looks good to make the final

She was joined in the semis by Stephanie Gilmore and Tyler Wright, so although there has been some surprise results on the way, it’s the top four who are in the semi finals. The swell is looking pretty good all week, so it could finish at any time so be sure to tune in – www.aspworldtour.com
