If you’ve ever sat at home and contemplated what the end of the human race will look like, contemplate it no more because Christian Richter has been taking some genuinely haunting photographs of Europe’s abandoned buildings. Viewed in succession, these photos evoke a sense of what the world might look like after an apocalypse.
Richter became fascinated with abandoned buildings when he was younger and, after he got his first camera, he started taking pictures of them in a bid to document their decaying beauty. Photographing abandoned buildings and architecture has become something of a hobby for Richter; inspiring him to travel Europe as a result.
Writing on the internet, Richter said: “I simply adore old decaying architecture, their patterns and textures – they remind me that everything is impermanent.”
