These Haunting Photos Of North Korea’s Capital Are Genuinely Eye-Opening

A French photographer went to Pyongyang and what she saw there will amaze you.

Photo: Hélène Veilleux.

Hélène Veilleux is a French photographer, and she’s just been on a holiday. Well, that’s if you can really call a trip to the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (aka North Korea) a “holiday” in the traditional sense of the word.

Hélène visited the secretive state’s capital Pyongyang, and took a number of genuinely eye-opening photographs.

Rather than spend an age talking about them, we’ll let the photographs do the talking for us. After all, doesn’t a picture speak a thousand words?

Of course, one could argue that when it comes to North Korea a picture speaks only the words deemed appropriate by Kim Jong-Un and his ruling party. Anyway, check out this gallery.
