When you’re faced with endless ocean, colossal mountains set against a deep blue sky, or sweeping, tree lined valleys, seeing the world as a beautiful place is effortless. However, when you’re confronted with the harsh architecture, relentless concrete, and faint smell of piss of the city, it can be easy to lose that vision a little at times.
However, photographer Vincent Laforet has bucked that trend with this amazing photo collection of Los Angeles. The snapper flew above the second largest city in the US in a helicopter, hovering at 1000 feet to get the stunning pictures.
What he captured looks strange and other-worldly, in the same way as the Northern Lights looks both completely natural, yet completely alien at the same time.
We don’t recall seeing a set of images that better capture both the beauty and grime of a city since we sat and watched Drive (which, if you haven’t already, should be added to your Must Watch list as soon as possible).
The full set of Vincent’s photos of Los Angeles can be seen here on Storehouse. You can also sign up to pre-order a book on Vincent’s Air series here.
