Tragedy In Bali | Two Killed And 13 Injured In Ferry Explosion Off The Coast of Indonesia

This surfing paradise has been rocked by the sad news

An explosion on a ferry in Bali has killed two people, and left a further thirteen injured. The two fatalities are believed to be an Indonesian, and a Dutch national.

The ferry was carrying 35 passengers from Bali towards renowned surfing spot Lombok, although it’s final destination was the holiday resort of Gili Trawangan.

As the usually idyllic islands off Indonesia were in shock following the explosion, Made Sudana, a spokesperson for the local police force said “ Two of them died, 13 were injured. There seems there was some sort of explosion on the boat, so there was an emergency with the engine.”

While the actual cause of the explosion remains unclear, the Indonesian Police have said that they do not believe it was a bomb.

The British Foreign office has released a statement saying that “We are providing consular assistance to British nationals affected by an explosion on a ferry off the coast of Bali.”.

Our thoughts, of course, are with the loved ones of those that have died, and the people affected by this sad news.
