Here at Mpora, we love Japan. It’s not just the land of the rising sun, and the birthplace of two of our three favourite snowboarders (Kazu Kobubo and Ayumu Hirano, as you ask). Far from it.
We love Japan because its ski resorts get too much snow, because they have a thing for shaving their dogs into cubes (not in a shitty way, of course!), sake, onsen, sushi, goldfish earrings, thigh pillows, weird cartoons and more.
But, we knew virtually nothing about the history of the amazing country.
“SHUT YOUR GOB, MPORA!” we hear you cry. “HISTORY IS FOR NERDS, AND PEOPLE THAT ARE WARY OF REPEATING THE MISTAKES OF THE PAST. AND WE AINT THAT!”.
We know. We understand. We felt like that as well (we didn’t really, we’re not that stupid, but sometimes we like to pretend to be called Dirk). But then we saw this amazing. video.
It lays out the history of Japan in a brilliant, internet-barbing way. Yes, it’s nine minutes long, but we promise that time will fly by. And when it has, just like us, you’ll be smarter for it.
So sit back, relax, and let the silly education wash over you.
