Fishing has never exactly been thrill-a-minute stuff. We’re sure there’s a lot to be said for its therapeutic and relaxing qualities, but from the outside it just looks like a lot of elderly gentlemen sitting by a river, wearing hats, drinking coffee from a Thermos, and doing strange things with maggots.

This video, which features a sport called “skarping”, might just change some of those ideas you have on fishing. We’ll let the following footage do the talking. Not because we’re lazy, but because it’s so ridiculous that our words wouldn’t do it justice.

At more than one point, during it’s running time, we had to pause this video and inspect its finer details with a magnifying glass. We’ll admit that some of the fish do look pretty CGI’d, especially the one caught by the helmet-wearing “skarper” and the one that flies conveniently across the lens.

That being said, it might just be that our brains are failing to comprehend the absolute madness in front of us. What are your thoughts on this? Are we witnessing the birth of a gnarly new fish-catching sport here, or is this video just another internet hoax?
