Although it might sound like you’ll be joining a freedom fighting group, resistance training is simply exercising your muscles using an opposing force – e.g dumbbells or resistance bands. It’s also called strength training or weight training.
So now you know what it is, what can it do for you? Well, lots of things. Regular resistance training can improve your body shape giving you firm, sculpted muscles, increased muscle strength and power and improved bone health.
You can use free weights such as dumbbells kettle bells, bar bells; weight machines at the gym, medicine balls, resistance bands or even your own body weight to provide the resistance.
Resistance training is an anaerobic activity but if you incorporate it into circuit training it can become an aerobic exercise.
